K-9 City, Paul Yevilov. Paul works with every dog rescue and shelter that I know if in the area. The reason?
With 25 years of experience, he knows what he's doing and he gets results! Although he has never met a dog
that he can't work with, he will tell you what you can realistically expect with what energy you want to put into it.

DOG AND CAT FOOD
I wholeheartedly agree with Dr. Martin Goldstein's feeding suggestions. Here I have listed his
recommendations in blue, with my comments in black.
Ideal - Healthiest
1. Hunted, raw prey (not realistic in modern society).
2. Fresh raw meats, bones, organ meats with very small amounts of fresh vegetables.
The optimal diet for your dog or cat is a raw diet - it's what Mother Nature intended. Our dogs and cats are
carnivores, so, by definition, all commercially available kibbles, which need dry matter usually in the form of
grains or starchy vegetables to be formed, fall outside the nutritional requirements of carnivores. Muscle meat,
bones, organs, a little vegetable matter, and absolutely no grains whatsoever create the diet that these
animals were meant to consume.
If you are interested in learning how to prepare a biologically-appropriate raw diet for your dog or cat, please
see these links:
- RawPaws(TM) Yahoo! List - The listmembers of this group have a vast knowledge of the raw diet. Once
you have joined, which is free, you have access not only to the group's knowledge base, but also to the
files section of the group where you can find the QuickStart(R) diet, a "recipe" to create the ideal raw
diet for your dog or cat. If you have other animals, the members of this list will be able to direct you to
the right place.
- RawFeeding Yahoo! List - Another list with a vast knowledge of the raw diet.
- Raw Learning site
I do understand, however, that some people do not want to take the additional time to prepare a raw diet for
their pets. That's okay! There are many prepared raw diets available out there.
3. Fresh cooked meats, calcium, organ meat, with very small amounts of fresh vegetables.
If you are squeamish about feeding your pet a raw diet, a home-cooked diet is still far better than any
commercially prepared kibble or canned food available.
